Stabler Library Collection
The Ed Stabler Collection is comprised of approximately 1000 titles, published from the 1960s to the present. The formats are varied and the subjects are broad in scope. Most of the collection is comprised of books, but it also includes over 75 theses on microform, videos (18), and serials (~12). While the focus of the collection is on running, track, and related topics, relevant resources in health, sports, women in sports, biography, and nutrition are included, as well as, titles related to disability and juvenile literature. Given the scope of the collection, it is integrated within the collections in SU’s Bird and Carnegie Libraries.
Accessing the Collection
Syracuse Chargers members are eligible to apply for a Syracuse University Libraries’ card during annual open enrollment from November 1st – December 1st. Members can register here. This card gives members borrowing privileges for the print collections at Bird and Carnegie Libraries only. SU Libraries will review accounts on a yearly basis to ensure that Chargers membership is current and library accounts are in good standing. Any lapse in Chargers membership will suspend library access. Members who join the Syracuse Chargers outside the open enrollment period will have to wait until the next annual enrollment period. SU Libraries Borrowing Policy: Individuals are responsible for all materials checked out in their name and for all fines and charges. Borrowing privileges are contingent upon continued eligibility and compliance with all borrowing rules and library usage policies. The library reserves the right to cancel borrowing privileges and forward unpaid charges to a collections agency. Members of the community are welcome to virtually browse the Stabler Collection and make requests through their public libraries’ interlibrary loan services where available.
